Growing up so fast.

First he takes his daddy's chair.
My chair now daddy!
Then he holds his bottle all by himself for the first time.
Don't worry, Ma. I still like the boobs better.
My little man is growing up so fast.  We are so ready for Christmas over here.  My parents and brother are coming to Tulsa this year and I have so many little goodies ready for my baby boy (even though B says that he can't have any gifts he can't unwrap - what a Scrooge).

You can find me in St. Louie

My family has lived in St. Louis for the last 13 years.  That is a long time for my family to live somewhere.  Before we moved to STL the longest we'd lived somewhere was 5 years.  I like St. Louis just fine, but I don't want to live there again.  It's a lot of fun to visit, but not where I want to live.  Anyway, I do like to visit and visit I did.  Last week, B went out into the field for work and I decided to drive home to spend some time with family and see friends.  LB did such a good job on the drives.  He really does travel well.
While home, we had lots of play time with Nana and Grandpa.  Unfortunately, I am a bad mama and didn't get many photos.  LB got to meet a dog for the first time (Zoey and LB acknowledged each other, but didn't seem to have much interest otherwise).  I can't remember the last time I saw my dad as happy as he was playing with the baby.  We went up to Nana's school so she could show LB off to the other teachers and students.  He was such a good baby even though I know he was overwhelmed with all of the new people, places, sounds and smells.

One of the most fun things we got to do was visit my pseudo family - the Toben/Piccolis.  Elaina and I have been friends since high school and she has an 11 month old.  We were really looking forward to a fun playdate.  We hung out on Wednesday, the day before we left for home and LB was getting pretty clingy.  He didn't really want to be held by anyone else and when he wanted to fuss, he was going to do it no matter what.  What was nice; however, was that I found a little walker/exersaucer thing and he was happy in that and Anthony was happy to show LB how the toys worked and didn't mind sharing.  It was so nice catching up with Elaina and her Mom, Susan.  It was also nice to see her dad and brother for a minute.  I also got to see my bestie, Erin's, family.  Erin's mom, Gloria (or Glo as we call her), cracks me up and her sister, Lauren (or Lu) has some serious auntie-fever (baby fever only she wants Erin to have babies and Erin and her husband, Dave, are so not interested at the moment).  They loved on my little man about as much as he would let them, but he had had it at that point and wanted no one but Mama or Nana (I'm sure Daddy would have been fine too, but he was off in Middle of Nowhere, Texas).  What was also fun, was that I found a bunch of my baby photos from when I was about LB's age and, ohmygoodness, he is Mama's boy (at least from the eyes down.  From the eyes up, it's daddy-minus the color)!  And so I will leave you with some photos from the trip.
Anthony showing LB how the noise maker works

LB: What you doing, man?

WHOA!  What's that jingling off in the distance?

Elaina, Anthony, (a tired) LB and Me

We took like 10 shots and these were the best two, at least one baby looking at the camera.

I WANT TO GO HOME, MAMA! (LB, me and Susan)
Now let's play a game of Me or LB?

3 Months Old!

Oh life!  When did you get away from me?  Oh well, better late (12 days) than never.
My Dearest Angel Boy,

Oh, Mama and Daddy love you so very much.  So much has happened this month.  You are getting bigger before our very eyes.  Your smiles melt our hearts.  You've started to give Daddy "fives" (whether you realize it or not) and you are giving Mama "buddy kisses" (really you're probably trying to latch onto my cheek).  Mama lost her job this month and has loved spending the extra time with you.  You are so special.  Every little thing you do makes us so happy.

BABY STATS

Sleep:  You are still going to sleep between 7:30 and 8:00 and getting up around 6:30 or 7:00.  You were doing so well with your sleep, only waking up once between 2-4, but then you got sick and you started waking up twice in the night again.  You are feeling much better, but still not 100%.  I hope that you start to sleep like you were once you are feeling 100%.

Routine:  You wake up around 6:30 and Mama comes in your room and we smile at each other for a few minutes before I pick you up to change you (Daddy is either still sleeping or getting ready for work).  After I change you, we go into the living room and you eat.  If it's a week day, Daddy is out there eating breakfast too.  If it's the weekend, it is typically just you and Mama for a while.  After you eat we smile and play with each other for a little while.  Then we try to do some tummy time (you got a long reprieve while you were sick, but now we are back to it).  After tummy time, you typically need another change and are hungry (working out wears you out!), so you get some more milk and then, after a little play time and a burp, you go down for a nap in you swing around 8:00-8:30.  This nap is anywhere between 1-2.5 hours.  After your nap, you eat, we have more play time where we might read some books and will definitely play on your playmat.  We also like to just look at each other and talk.  You go down for your next nap around 1:00 and sleep for 1-2 hours (depending on how long your first nap was).  When you wake up we have more food, more playtime with books and more talking to each other.  Daddy gets home between 4:30 and 5:00 and sometimes we have finished our tummy time, while other times you get to finish up with Daddy.  Once Daddy gets home, you have some "dude time" while Mama fixes dinner.  About the time Mama sits down to eat, you decide you want to eat again.  Around 7:00 we head to the bathroom for bath time.  Oh you love your bath time, but have little tolerance for the time it takes to get you dressed after.  After bath time, we have a little more quiet play/cuddle time in the living room where you get to look at the tree lights.  Around 7:30 you and Mama go to the nursery for your last feeding and some rocking, singing, story and a prayer before you get put in your crib.  We have started putting you in your crib while you're still a little awake so that you can fall asleep on your own.  You are a very good sleeper. (All diaper changes have been omitted because you do NOT sit in a wet diaper for any extended period of time and there are too many to count).

Feed: You LOVE your food.  LOVE LOVE LOVE!  You eat every 2.5-3 hours and boy you are efficient.  You are also NOISY.  We still give you a bottle once a day, but other than that, you are nursing.  When you were sick you ate more often, but that was probably because you couldn't eat as much at once since you had trouble breathing.

Weight:  You weighed 6 lb 15 oz when you were born. Now you are 18 pounds!  18!  Baby boy, you are so big!

Length: When you were born, you were 19.5 inches. Now you are probably close to 26 inches (we have a well baby in a few weeks).  You are still a growing machine.

Diaper Size: We have two more boxes of size 2s to finish up, but I'm not sure you are going to make it through both boxes.  You are at the upper limit for size 2s already.

Clothes Size:  All of your 0-3 clothes are now packed away and a lot of your 3 month clothes.  You wear 3 month Carter's onesies, 3-9 month Gerber onesies, 3-6 month pants, 6 month jammies (you need the length and bigger feet of a 6 month in anything with feet) and you are growing out of those quickly.  Mama bought you some 9 month jammies the other day.  So big!

Hair Color:  BLONDE BLONDE BLONDE!  Your soft hair is growing in so blonde, just like your Mama (and Daddy if I'm going to be honest).  You still have your mullet, and it is dark, but everything else is coming in blonde and so soft.

Eye Color:  You have such beautiful eyes.  When you were born they were very dark blue.  Your eyes are still very blue and are getting LIGHTER instead of darker.  I think we may have a blue eyed boy on our hands!

Funniest Moment:  The funniest thing you've done, in my opinion, is when you had a blowout while you were home alone with Daddy.  It was funny because he freaked out. Also, your Daddy was reading you a book the other day and it scared you when he barked like the dog.  It was kind of funny, but Daddy also felt bad.

Favorite Toy:  Your playmat is the ultimate toy for you.  You will lay under that thing and kick and bat and stare for such a long time. It is so neat to watch you learn cause and effect.  You have learned that if you kick the support poles, that the whole thing will shake, and not just the one that you hit.  You also like to nap in your swing and watch your mobile go in your crib.  Mama can put you in your crib and then go get ready for the day.

Firsts:  First road trip (do Dallas to see Grandma and Granddad).  First time sleeping completely through the night.  First time sick (RSV, it was scary and sad, but you're a trooper).  First time going to a friend's house for a UFC (you slept).  First time ALMOST rolling over (you get about 75% there and then realize it will result in you ending up on your tummy and FREAK OUT).  First time sitting up by yourself, even if it was only for a few seconds before toppling over, it totally counts.

Mama and Daddy love you so much.  You are getting so big and changing every single day.  We can't wait to see what you do next.  Coming up: First Christmas!  You are getting lots of little things and Daddy will probably be mad at Mama for all of the things I bought you.  Guess who doesn't care?  MAMA!

You again!

I'm totally going to touch your eyeball.

Oh don't mind me, I'm just going for a pat on the head. Eyeball?  I was never going for your eyeball your poor, paranoid, high froggy.

Whoa!  That was really bright, Mama.

Rocky, I am still stronger than you!  Look at my muscles!

I will now punch you to assert my dominance.  I'm so good I don't even have to look at you to punch you.

Oh, Hey Mom!  No, I wasn't punching Rocky.

2011 Most Fascinating

Have you ever watched Barbara Walters' 10 Most Fascinating?  I've never really watched it before, but I am right now and am fascinated (har har) by her choices.  Fact: This post could get interesting as I have currently had 2 glasses of wine and that is the most in one sitting for me lately.
  1. Eric Stonestreet and Jesse Tyler Ferguson.  Umm who DOESN'T watch Modern Family? Seriously, if you don't, you should.  Eric and Jesse play Cam and Mitchell (respectively), a gay couple raising a little Vietnamese baby.  They are so great, I just love them.  I seriously love this couple (fact: Eric is not gay IRL, but plays the more flamboyant of the couple.  Jesse is in fact gay IRL)
    <object width="560" height="315"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/QH8-_IF7vX8?version=3&amp;hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/QH8-_IF7vX8?version=3&amp;hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="560" height="315" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object> (if this doesn't work, please go to this site)
Seriously, LOVE!  How can you not.  Babs, I agree with this choice.  Good call!
  2. Simon Cowell.  I feel as though he's probably been on this list before. Blah Blah Blah. I do talent shows. Blah Blah Blah. I fight with Paula.  Blah Blah Blah. I eat really healthy, but smoke.  BORED!
  3. The Kardashians. For some reason, I can't help but love them.  Granted, my love has shifted from Kim to Khloe (I've always been annoyed by Kourtney).  Love or Hate them, they are interesting.  Yes, they are famous because Kim had a sex tape (admittedly, I've never seen it).  With all of the crap they do/say, I loved them. THEN, this fall happened and I can't help but be Team Hump!  I mean really, there are no favors being done this season.  For real!  I am seriously digging Khloe these days though.  She cracks me up and, despite all odds, she and Lamar seem legit.  There are times when they remind me of me and B (when they are goofy and do stupid stuff).  They don't keep anything private, and you know what, that seems to take a lot of guts.  I mean you have to be willing to deal with a LOT of hate and backlash.  Regardless, they are a gorgeous family and I'll be DAMNED if they don't have great hair and make-up.
  4. Herman Cain.  I am so sick and tired of people getting their panties in such a bunch about people and their sex lives.  I mean seriously!  For all we know (and I truly have no opinion about this man and am NOT getting into a political debate) he could be the best president this country could ever have had. I guess all that I have to say is that I fear that one day we are going to miss out on the person who could be the greatest leader of our country because he/she smoked some pot in college/had an affair/loves someone of the same sex/etc. . . Let's get it together people!  These people may have made different choices in life/been born differently than you, but that doesn't mean that they won't make a good leader.  I guess that this one tuned into a rant more than my opinion of Herman Cain. I guess that is just that I don't really care who he slept with/tried to sleep with and I think that it is unfortunate if he would have been a great leader and we won't have the chance to find out.  NEXT!
  5. Katy Perry.  True Story, I have a total girl-crush on Mrs. Russell Brand.  Am I totally proud of that?  No.  Do I care what anyone else thinks?  No.  Do I think her music is totally fun regardless of any message she might put forth?  Yep, you got it!  She is her own person and does her own thing and I dig that.  For some reason, I totally love her and I can't get enough of her!

  6. Derek Jeter. I've dug Jeter for YEARS! I am a big baseball fan (GO CARDS!), but I just thought Jeter was hot.  I've moved on a bit from him, but Mr. Jeter will always have a soft spot in my heart.   Totally adorbs! Way to go, Mr. 3000.
  7.  Donald Trump.  I am VERY rich.  Either there is some great glue on there or the hair is real.  Props to you Donald, not only did you teach Nene Leakes how to be VERY rich, but you have crazy hair.  You are so NOT fired!  (As far as the whole "birther" thing goes, people need to read the Constitution and realize what exactly it takes to be a "natural born citizen."  You do NOT have to be born on US soil.  In fact, you could be born on Pluto - no longer a planet - and, so long as one of your parents was a US citizen, you are a natural born citizen.)  LET'S GET WITH IT PEOPLE!
  8. Amanda Knox.  I was indeed FASCINATED by her story.  Do I think she killed her roommate?  No.  Do I think that something very, very bad happened that night?  Yes.  Do I think her bf looks like Harry Potter?  Absolutely.  I truly hope that she can get her life back together now that she's home.  I truly believe that, no matter what happened, that girl's life has changed and that she will be an upstanding citizen.

  9. Pippa Middleton. Sure, she's a cute (not gorgeous) girl who has a great body, but I seriously don't get the obsession with her booty.  It's flat and small.  HOWEVER, the girl does have a great sense of style. For my opinions on the booty crazy see here.
  10. Steve Jobs.  You changed the way we live.  Thank you for things like the iPod, iPhone, iPad, Toy Story (hello Pixar) and EVERYTHING else he did.  Confession: the first computer I learned on was an Apple. God Bless you, Steve Jobs and Rest In Peace.  I hope to have my "Oh Wow, Oh Wow, Oh Wow." moment one day.
In other news, have you entered the giveaway over at From Mrs. to Mama? No?  That's too bad. You'd be a lot cooler if you did (but not really because I am totally going to win).

How the Glitz Stole Christmas

Did you sign up for the How the Glitz Stole Christmas blogger swap at A Momma's Desires and Pacifiers or The Bargain Blonde?  If not, you're missing out!  I got paired up with the lovely Mrs. N over at Step by Step, and boy did she hook a girl up!  We had a $25 limit and that gal sure knows how to find some good deals!
Starting at the upper left corner and moving clockwise we have: Glittery gift tags, a leopard Santa hat with a tiara (it also has a pretty snowflake pin on it, but that didn't show up well), more glittery gift tags, an eyeshadow palette (always love!), a glitter nail file (I was seriously in need of one of these), a fun makeup pouch, two lip glosses, a glittery nail polish and two disco ball lip glosses (not pictured: this great zebra print eyemask that I had already used - hence the no photo)!  WHEW that is a LOT of stuff.  Props to you Mrs. for getting all of that under $25.  I haven't had a chance to use much of the stuff (minus the eyemask and nail file which I love) because little man was sick and then got me sick (otherwise there totally be a pic of me in that hat) so we haven't really done much but chill on the couch.  Anyway, I am looking forward to getting the chance to try out all of my new goodies and rock that hat.  Thanks, Mrs. N for the fabulous gifts and thanks to the wonderful hostesses of this swap: Raven and Lindsey!

Christmas Time

Last weekend we took some family photos for LB's 3 month shoot and for Christmas photos.  I'll just post them.  There's not a whole lot of exposition to be had.

My handsome guys!

"You're about to lose your pants privilege"

This is what I heard the other day as I was fixing dinner in the kitchen.  "You're about to lose your pants privilege."  I thought nothing of it because B says ridiculous things to LB all the time.  HOWEVER, when I later came out of the kitchen I saw that my baby was, in fact, no longer wearing pants. I asked B what was up and this is how the conversation went.

S: Babe, why doesn't the baby have any pants on?

B: Because he lost is pants privilege.

S: His pants privilege?

B: Ya.  Wearing pants is a privilege for this guy.

S: And why did he lose his "pants privilege"?

B: Because we've been through about 4 diapers in the last 30 minutes. (*I have to interject here and state that when LB starts fussing because he has a wet diaper, you better get that thing changed or else we are on the express train to meltdown city).

S: Ok (side eye).  You do realize it's about 20 degrees outside, right?   We don't have the heater up that high in here.

B: Ya that's why I'm wrapping the blanket around him like this. (Gives me the look of "I mean what else would I be doing?  This all makes perfect sense.")

At this point I just walked back into the kitchen shaking my head.  PANTS PRIVILEGE!  I feel like that is something that a d-bag guy would say to a girl to try to get her OUT of her pants.  Ridiculous!

Does this look like the face of someone about to lose his pants privilege?
Who? Me? I get to keep my pants, right?

No!!!!  Don't take my pants away!!!!  I want my pants!!!!

YAY! I get to keep my pants!!!

Please Don't Leave Me, Al!

Update: After I posted this, it came out that he signed with LA.  Sad Panda
Dear Mr. Pujols,

I am a Cardinals fan. I have been for as long as I can remember.  I LOVE LOVE LOVE them!  I didn't watch as much baseball as I should have this year, but I was EXHAUSTED all season between being hugely pregnant having a newborn.  But that does not take away from how much I love my Cards.  Please forgive me.  Over the last ten and a half years, your name has become synonymous with the St. Louis Cardinals.  A little part of me died when you and the Cardinals weren't able to make a deal during the off season.  Please don't leave us.  My boy needs to know you as a Cardinal.  You are a Cardinal.  You are St. Louis.  Please don't leave!  Your family has grown up in St. Louis.  Your foundation is in St. Louis.  Sure, Miami has nice weather all year long, but St. Louis has beautiful seasons and I know you don't long for humidity because you get plenty of that in St. Louis.  I am not even acknowledging the fact that the baby bears are after you.  I don't think they really want you.  I think they are just spiteful.  Asshats.  I could go on and on about how much we St. Louisians love you, but you already know.  Please don't go Al.  Please don't go!

LOVE,
ST. LOUIS

Dear St. Louis Cardinals,

Please pull your ass out of your head (because yes, that is how messed up and backwards things are right now) and sign Albert Pujols.  LOCK IT UP!

DO IT NOW,

St. Louis

I've been sleeping on the couch

First, I have heard from a lot of new people in the last few days and am planning to do a "Hey this is me" post in a couple days.  Second, my boy turned 3 months old yesterday.  I will get a 3 month post up soon, but since he's been sick and my laptop died, my focus has been elsewhere.  Anyway, here's today's post.

So, you know how in the movies/on tv you always see the husband being banished to the living room couch for one reason or another?  Well, I've been banished to the living room couch. This is not because B and I are fighting or anything like that.  It is because of my poor baby being sick.  God bless our awesome Snug-a-Bunny swing.  This seat in this wonderful swing will prop up so LB doesn't have to lay flat and have all of the crap draining and he can breathe now - kinda.
Well this great device is in the living.  Therefore, I too am in the living room.  I never realized how much I would miss being in bed with the husband until now.  We've been away from each other for a few nights in the past (he has to go out into the field for work sometimes), but we haven't voluntarily slept in separate beds (minus a couple times right after the babe was born because B wasn't feeling well and needed to get more sleep and having LB in our room was not helping him).  I'm starting to notice a pattern here.  This little 17 pound, 25 inch, 3 month old (ok so the "little" portion of this statement may not be too accurate) man keeps separating me from my precious sleep with my own personal space heater - B.  Well, little man is getting better and hopefully I will soon move back into my bedroom.  However, until my little guy gets better, I will sleep in the living room.  OH, did I mention the best part of this all?  We bought some new tables for the living room a few months ago (2 end tables and a coffee table).  This purchase necessitated that we rearrange the furniture in the living room.  Well, the SOFA got moved to the other side of the room and the LOVESEAT is now by the swing.  So, guess who has been sleeping on the LOVESEAT?!?!!  That's right, THIS GAL!  Now, I'm not tall by any means.  HOWEVER, I am about 5'4" and that is about 5" too long to sleep comfortably on the loveseat.  My back is sore.  My shoulders hurt.  I am incredibly uncomfortable on the loveseat.  HOWEVER, as B said the other night, I would sleep on a bed of nails for LB.  Love that little man!

All I Want For Christmas Is . . .

Do you read the fabulous Becky over at From Mrs. to Mama?  If not you totally should.  This month, Ms. Becky is doing a Christmas link up.  This week's link up is your Christmas list - real or fake.  I'll do a little bit of both, plus tangibles and intangibles.

1. Right now I just want my sweet baby to be healthy.  He has RSV and I am a sad mama about my sick baby.  He's hanging in there though and is being a trooper with the snot suckers and his breathing treatment.  He is sounding better already.  I need to have this face back though!

2.  I want a new job.  Yes, it is a good thing that I don't have a job right now since my little one is sick, but I still want a new one.  I like to work.  I just do.

Alright, now on to the fun stuff!

3. If you know anything about me, you should know that I am a bit of a makeup whore.  Read: I LOVE THE SHIT!  I have way too many eyeshadows to possibly use all of them in a reasonable amount of time.  I especially have WAY too many brown eye shadows.  What can I say?  I pretty much only wear neutral eyeshadows - browns, black and greys.  SOMETIMES, I'll throw in some color, but that's mainly for events and that rarely occurs (even less now with the little one).  ANYWAY, I am DYING over the Naked2 palette from Urban Decay. I have the Naked palette, but I am LOVING the mattes in Naked2.

Seriously gorg colors!

(UPDATE: I just got an email saying it was back in stock so I totally bought it - 3-5 days and I'll have to show it off for everyone.)

4.  A new laptop.  Seriously, my old one (like 5 years old in its defense and it got me all the way through law school and the bar which, mind you, was no small feat), is DEAD.  Hubs keeps trying to make it work, but the horse is dead and we are on our way to beating another.  Now, I know many of you SWEAR by your Macs, but a Mac just isn't practical for us (this will be our 2nd computer for easy access in the living room - seriously don't need much from it).  All I want is another Toshiba because mine was a good computer.

5.  I've blogged about these ridiculous gorgeous boots before.  Now I just need longer and thinner legs (working on the thinner, not so much luck with the longer - can I ask for those too?)

6.  Gift Cards, yo! Mama needs some new clothes.  I haven't gone shopping for me (minus maternity clothes) in over a year.  I'm bribing myself with new clothes to get back in shape.  Unfortunately, with the whole job sitch, I now need others to give me monies so that I can get new stuff.  Thanks yall!

7. Hello Gorgeous.

8. This DVF dress is not only lovely, but would be totally nursing friendly!

9. Valentino Aphrodite Bow Bag.  I love bags with bows on them for some reason.  Absolutely love it.

10.  I need a new World Series Champs shirt.  ESPECIALLY since my Cardinals beat Hubs' Rangers.  LOVE IT!

11. I love me some coffee, but I always make more than I drink in the morning so I think this is what I need.  For. Sure.

12. House Keeper.  YES!  I need someone to come clean my house.  Not because I don't have the time, but more because I just don't want to do it.  Please and thank you.

13. I also need a personal chef to help me eat right.

14.  On that note, I also need a personal trainer.  I am back on the Jillian-boat, but some days I need a little more.

Hmmm...I think that's good for now.  I also asked the Hubs to get me a pendant that represents the babe to put on a necklace that my Nana gave me when I turned 16.  I told him where to go, so we'll see how he does.  I'm excited.
