So What Wednesday

SO WHAT IF:

~ I tune out B when he starts talking about soccer.  I'm not sure if he knows that my general, passive grunts mean that I'm not listening or if he just doesn't care, but it works for us.  It also helps when I give little laughs and glance over at him from time to time.  "MMhmmm" also helps.
~ I have a tremendous need for the people at work to like me.  I really disliked most of the people with whom I worked at the firm so I really want to get along with these folks.  Plus, they seem pretty nice.
~ There is less greater thrill in my life than making my boy laugh.  I will do all sorts of ridiculous things.
~ My friend told me to look for boxes (more on that later) on "CL" and my response was "Columbia Liquor?"  Her answer was "Craigslist."  Fail or awesome?
~ Since starting work, my DVR has gotten so backed up with my stuff because I am exhausted all the time and B hogs the remote.
~ B and I haven't been on a date since before LB was born.  While that may seem awful to some, we aren't really going out people anyway.  HOWEVER, we have 2 dates planned in April: A wedding in StL and a wedding in T-Town the next weekend.  I am excited about that.
~ I'm not sure why we have to do a parent teacher conference with our 6 month old.  We have one on Friday and, frankly, it seems a bit ridiculous.
~ I giggle to myself when a work-inappropriate song comes on my iPod while, well, at work.  It makes me giggle and I pretty much love it.  Some favorites from this week: Back That Ass Up, Forgot About Dre, Me and Mr. Jones, What's It Gonna Be, Big Pimpin'

Random Updates

~ Have you tried Revlon's Lip Butter?  No?  Well why not?!?!  It is some fab stuff :)  The texture of these little gems is so, well, buttery!  They go on smooth and and the color is GREAT!  Long wearing? Not so much, but they feel so great on my lips and that means a LOT to me!  I have 4 of them.  I have the following colors: Peach Parfait, Cotton Candy, Red Velvet and Berry Smoothie.

Emma here is wearing Peach Parfait, but it is a lot less orangey on me.  However, I have pretty rosey lips normally.

~ I am really enjoying my new job.  It is different from what I've been doing, but I am enjoying it.  There are a lot of perks to this position that I NEVER would have gotten before. I am so happy to have been given this opportunity!

~ Wine.  I missed wine when I was pregnant.  In fact, in a cruel twist of irony, I craved wine for a couple of weeks when I was pregnant.  Now, I'm back on the vino.  Tonight's choice, Bogle Chardonnay.
Yummy!

~ Do you people like Ricky Gervais?  How can you not love Ricky?  He has yet to produce a show that B and I don't die over.  He currently has two shows that we are love, love, LOVING!  So, Ricky and his partner, Stephen, send their buddy, Karl, to do things that would be on a bucket list.  Holy Hilarious!  For example, they sent Karl to Uganda to see the gorillas in their natural habitat...really, this clip can show it better than anything else.

Seriously, if you have the Science Channel you NEED to check this out.  They are in the second season and it is great.
The other show that is great is on HBO and is called "Life's Too Short."  It stars Warwick Davis.  Have you seen Willow?  Like the movie?  Well he was Willow.  Well it's pretty hilarious.  Again, a clip shows it better than I could ever describe.

~ Something I am not loving as much these days, sleep deprivation and sleep training.  I hate having B Jr cry, but I am so damn tired.  I mean (bad mom alert), there have been nights when I have slept through the fussing until he was throwing a total fit before it woke me up.

~ And more than anything, I am loving this little angel faced baby.

I mean seriously?  Does it get much sweeter than that?  Look at those half sleeping "I just woke up, Mama" eyes!  Oh I just die over that sweet little man.

I hope to teach you...

There are so many things in life that I hope to teach my son and my future children.  I want him to be kind and respectful and loving and smart and funny and all of those things.  I want him to treat people with respect and accept people for who they are not what they look like or who they love or any superficial thing.  I saw this on my friend's Facebook and it is so true.  I want so many of these things for my precious son and my future children.
25 Things I Want My Son To Know

And I leave you with these special photos that my son's school sent home with him the other day.

The Bitch Is Back!

Yes, that whore is back.  She hasn't been around for 15 months and, in the meantime, she has gotten a bit heavier and a big naggier.  Yes, my period started again today.  TMI?  Sorry, but not really.  See, that special little gift hasn't been around since November 2010, but it returned today.  Yes, I am still nursing B Jr.  However, there were signs that it would be returning.  My hair started falling out, B Jr started on solids, I have been pumping instead of nursing since B Jr has been at daycare.
Anyway, other random things.  I got a job and started working again.  How wonderful!  I really do like my job and am excited about what the industry has to offer.
My parents have been here this weekend and it has been so nice.  My little man loves them so much. His face just lights up when Nana comes around.  I loved seeing my parents play with my little guy.
B and I are in the market for a house.  We spent all morning on Saturday looking at houses.  We are in no hurry to get anything, but hopefully we find something soon :)
Well, that is about it for right now because I am exhausted and my brain is no longer working.  Night loves :)

5 Months Old

My Sweetest Angel,

This has been such an exciting month.  You have done so much and are getting so big. Mama and Daddy love you so much.  I am just going to get into all of the great things you've been doing.
BABY STATS
Sleep:  You are still going to sleep between 7:30 and 8:00 and getting up around 6:30 or 7:00.  You have had a couple of rough nights, but we are figuring it out.  You get up about twice a night and so long as you quickly go back down, life is good.  Your naps at daycare are a little wacky still, but you're figuring it out.

Routine:  You are now loving daycare, especially when you go on walks.  Mama starts work on your 5 month birthday and you will start getting to school around 7:30.  When you are home, you are still eating every 2.5-3 hours and taking 2-3 naps per day.  We bathe you every other day and you absolutely LOVE bath time.

Feed: You are doing much better with the bottle.  Mama would like if you would like you to eat more at school, but you're getting better.  You have a few bottles and some cereal at school.  Then at home you nurse and have some oatmeal and either squash or sweet potatoes.  You LOVE sweet potatoes.

Weight:  You weighed 6 lb 15 oz when you were born. You are over 20 pounds. So big.  Mama took you to the store in the Moby and it was quite the workout.

Length: When you were born, you were 19.5 inches. You are over 26 inches.  You are just getting bigger and bigger every day.  People can't believe you're only 5 months old.  You're a giant baby!

Diaper Size: We are in size 3s and fill them out.

Clothes Size:  You are wearing 6-9 month clothes and some 3-6 (only a couple onesies and a few pairs of pants).

Hair Color:  Your hair changes color depending on the light.  Sometimes it's very blonde, sometimes it's light brown and sometimes it looks a little red.  Your mullet is still going strong and dark.
Eye Color:  As your jealous daddy says, you have "hideous" blue eyes.  He's just bitter that your eyes aren't brown.  From the moment I knew you were coming, I knew we'd have a beautiful blue eyed baby.

Funniest Moment:  You laugh more and more every day.  We love playing games with you to make you laugh.  You also sleep on your side, all the way against your crib.  It's funny to us.

Favorite Toy:  You still love your jumperoo and walks in your stroller.  You also love the rattle balls and all of the toys at school.  There is a bouncer seat at school you love to sit in when they turn on the vibration.  You also love walks in the bye bye buggy at school.   And Sophie. Oh My Goodness, you LOVE Sophie.  You hold her while in your carseat and chew on her face.  You also put Sophie's face in your mouth and suck on it like you are nursing.  It is kind of funny.

Firsts: Sitting up longer and longer each day.  You rolled over for the first time.  You ate your first veggies (sweet potatoes and squash) and started eating cereal at school.  You are almost completely out of your 3-6 month onesies.  You started sleeping on your side on 2-3-12, and on 2-5-12 you rolled over in your crib for the first time.  Mama checked on you while you were napping and you were on your tummy.
You are so strong at tummy time and get your chest all the way off the ground.  You babble all the time and we love hearing you talk.  You continue to brighten Mama and Daddy's lives each and every day.

His new favorite way to sleep

He sits up like a big boy

Our Love Story

I'm linking up with From Mrs. to Mama to tell you all about my and B's love story :)  Go see Mrs. Mama and tell us about your love story :)

1. How long have you and your significant other been together?  B and I have been together for almost 6 years (in July - ok so it's not almost).

2. How did you meet? {What's your "love" story?} I absolutely love our "love story."  You know how they say that you find what you're looking for once you stop looking?  Well, that is exactly what happened to us.  I dated someone I affectionately call "Satan" off and on throughout my first three years of college.  The night before B and I met, I found another girl's things at his apartment when we were supposed to be "working things out."  Did I mention that this guy was a total piece of shit?  Ya he was.  ANYWAY, my friend, Amy, had been texting me all day to go out with her that night.  I was so hung over that the last thing that sounded appealing was more alcohol.  I was so uninterested in going out that when I got home from work, I immediately put on over sized shorts and a t-shirt and settled in with the remote and my dinner expecting to call it an early night.  However, after eating, I got my second wind, called Amy and told her that if she could be ready to go in 30 minutes I'd go out, otherwise I was going to pass out.  Amy said "Deal" and I went off to get ready then we headed out to the bar district in Tulsa.
I'm sure went to a couple of bars that night, but eventually we ended up at a place called Brookside Bar, where they sell drinks in mini-pitchers.  CLASSY!  So, I was talking to my friend, Joe, when Amy's roomie, Ivey, came up to me and said there was a guy who wanted to meet me over at the bar.  She pointed to him, I said I'd go meet him, but told Joe that I was sure I'd be back shortly. Well that guy at the bar was B.  We ended up hanging out, taking shots and talking all night. B's roomie, Larry, worked with Ivey's girlfriend.  Yes, I said girlfriend.  B and I were introduced by a lesbian couple at a bar where they sell drinks by the mini-pitcher 2 weeks before my 21st birthday.  That's a story for the kids right there folks!
Anyway, B asked me if he could have my number and take me to dinner later that week.  I told him that he could so long as he could spell my name (my name is not spelled weird, but most people spell it Susan and that is not my name).

B also walked the stalker line that night.  APPARENTLY, we had run into each other (literally) the weekend before.  To this day, I do not remember this event.  In my defense we had a few Big Mamas that night before we were out for the night.  You don't know what a Big Mama is?  Well here you go!
MMMM
ANYWAY, while B and I were talking he told me that we ran into each other the weekend before.  I told him that he was lying because I was was in St. Louis the weekend before.  Then he hit the stalker line and told me that I was wearing a pink top, jean skirt (which could have been just about anyone) and some white wedge shoes.  I thought about that for a minute and realized that was the weekend before and that it was 2 weekends ago I had been in St.L.  Apparently he was walking one way and I was walking the other and we literally walked into each other.  He said that he looked at me and said "What up, girl?" and that I just looked at him.  He said that as we were walking away from each other I looked back at him (I was probably giving him a dirty look for getting in my way haha).  He says that for the rest of the week he had talked about this girl who he ran into and that he should have talked to her, but he was sure he'd see her again because Tulsa is a small town. (Tulsa has a pretty small group of single 20-somethings who go out regularly, meaning that you run into the same people all the time when you are out.)
Anyone getting bored yet?  Don't worry, I'm almost finished.  Soon there after, Amy did what every horny single girl does, she decided to go home with her ex, thus stranding me.  B said he'd give me a ride home, so B and Larry drove me back to my apartment.  In the 15 minute drive from the bar to my apartment, I ran my mouth saying some pretty ridiculous stuff.  I think I was trying pretty hard to scare him off due to the whole "Satan" experience.  Well, it didn't work because he called me the next day and we talked for 3 hours (I made him stay on the phone with me because I was watching the Cards game and they started to win once B and I started talking).  A couple of days later we went out to dinner (he took me to a nice steak house) and the rest, as they say, is history.

I graduated from college in May.  He asked my parents if he could marry me at my graduation.  Then we went on a cruise in June and B proposed on the ship after spending the day in Rome.

3. If married, how long have you been married? If not, is this the guy you hope to marry? {do tell}
We have been married for 3 and a half years.

4. If you are married, where did you get married at? Big or small wedding?

We got married in Tulsa in the same Church where my Nana and Granddaddy were married.  My Nana was one of the most important people in my life and died a year (almost to the day) that I met B, so it was really special to be married there.  We ended up having a pretty big wedding.  I have a big family, my mom is one of six and my dad is one of four.  We also live where we both went to school and a lot of our friends still live here, not to mention that I was only a year out of school and was still close with a lot of the girls who were still in the sorority.  Oh and then there was my mom who was inviting people to the wedding the day of the big event when she would run into people she knew.  Ridiculous.   I think we ended up inviting close to 350 and about 250 came.  It was so much fun though.

5. Do you have any nick-names that you call one another?
Oh we have the normal "babe," but B also calls me "bandicoot."  I have no idea.

6. Name 3 things you love most about your honey.
   1) He lets me be me. He has never tried to make me be something different, but he is my biggest supporter and has made me stronger and into the best person I can be.
   2) He makes me laugh every day, even if I'm laughing out of frustration, I am still laughing.

   3) The ferocity with which he loves our son. It totally melts me heart when I see them interacting.
   4) He's damn sexy

7. Tell us how he proposed?
I kind of covered that already, but here's the long version.  A month before we got engaged, B totally threw me off the scent.  We were at a wedding and I said something along the lines of "Oh do you think that will ever be us?"  And he said something along the lines of "WHOA!  Slow down.  Why are you rushing me?"  So, I was devastated.  We were about to go on this big Mediterranean cruise and I was so bummed.  We were in Rome on our third day and by that time I was fairly agitated. People kept asking if we were married or engaged and I was always super quick to say "NO!  We're just dating." in about as snide a tone as possible.  We were having our photo taken in front of St. Peter's by a woman B nicknamed "Blue Bonnet" and she said "Say wedding bells!"  And this is the face that I managed to come up with, it says "Please don't scare him off any more!"
Ah, gotta love my post-cheer body. Thick legged, thick waisted, no boobs (as though those ever showed up) all from throwing girls who weighed as much as I did in the air.
Anyway, we got back to the ship and started getting ready for dinner.  We had the late shift for dinner and I would typically take a nap after a long excursion and B would go onto our balcony and read.  However, that day I didn't take a nap.  Instead, I took a long shower, dried my hair, got dressed and went out onto the balcony to read with B.  As I was finding my place in one of the Harry Potter books (NERD ALERT), B looked up at me and asked if I was ready for dinner.  I told him all except putting on my makeup.  Then he said a sentence I will never forget, "Well here, see if this fits."  I looked up and he was holding my ring in his hand as he sat across from me.  I believe I said something along the lines of "What is that?"  And he said "An engagement ring, " at which point I started crying and saying "I love you" and "Oh my GOD!" and the like. After a few minutes I said "I need to go email my mom."  I then ran out of our room to get on a computer.  As I was going to the stairs, a woman stopped me and asked if I was ok (I was clearly a red faced, crying hot mess).  I told her that I had just gotten engaged and I was going to email my mom.  When we finally made it to dinner, the same woman was at the table next to us and as we walked in she said "OMG That's the girl!" and everyone congratulated us and all was super happy.  The other couples at our table said they had been talking about whether we would get engaged on the cruise.  It was so wonderful!

8. Is he a flowers and teddy bear kind of guy for v-day, or strawberries, champagne, and rose petals?
He is absolutely NOT a flowers kind of guy.  In fact, he has never given me flowers.  When we first started dating, he told me that flowers were bad luck for him and that girls always break up with him within a couple weeks of him giving them flowers (I asked what he did to necessitate flowers being given), so he told me up front he'd not be giving me flowers haha.  I'm not a big flowers person though.  For V-day we normally go to dinner or get takeout and watch a movie.  We're pretty low key.

9. Are you a sunset dinner on the beach kind of girl, or pop a movie in and relax on the couch?
When on vacation, I'm totally a sunset dinner on the beach kind of gal, but normally I'm cool with a moving on the couch.

10. Tell us one thing you'd like to do with your significant one day. If you could do anything? Go anywhere?

I'd like to just travel the world.  We have lists of places we'd like to go one day: Peru, Australia, Ireland, Hawaii, so many other places . . .

11. Tell us what you plan on doing on this Valentine's Day.

We aren't big V-Day people.  In fact, I don't think we've every actually gone out on the day.  V-Day crowds frustrate me.  I think my mom is planning on being here for that weekend so we may go out to dinner, but we may not.  I know, terribly exciting!

12. Are you asking for anything this Valentine's day?'
All I ever ask for is a card.  See above.

13. Give us one piece of advice of keeping a relationship strong and full of love.

There are all of the cliches like "Never go to bed angry" and "Always have good communication" and the like.  Those are all true, and help keep our relationship strong and full of love, but we also laugh every day and I think that is important. It is also important to be a team and to always be the other's #1 supporter. I think it's also important to be physically affectionate.  Even if that is a cheek rub or a pat on the belly or a hug, touch is important.  And one other thing, never skip out on an opportunity to tell your SO that you love them.

14.  Show us a picture of what love means to you.

I Got Picked!

Miss Nicole over at Table For Four tagged me in this post so check me out yo!

2.  Answer the 11 questions provided by tagger.
3.  Tag new people with 11 new questions.

Facts

2.  When I got married, I dropped the "Angela" and took my maiden name as my middle name.

3.  B and I were introduced by a lesbian couple, at a bar, 2 weeks before my 21st birthday . . . but more on that tomorrow.

4.  I brush my teeth with hot water.

5.  I passed the bar exam on the first attempt.

6.  I've been offered every job for which I have ever interviewed.

7.  I am 26 years old and have had 19 addresses (11 houses with my family, 1 with B, 3 dorm addresses, 3 apartment addresses and one sorority house).

8.  I regularly dance to television theme songs.

10. I got pregnant on the first try.

11. Sometimes, I want to play in my son's jumperoo.

Real Housewives of Beverly Hills! Love me some Lisa Vanderpump! Oh, and Bradi would have to be there (even she isn't in the pic).

2.  How many kids do you want?
3 or 4, I think.  Who knows?  Maybe we'll get to two and freak out.  However, I would really like to have at least 3.

3.  What would be your dream job?

Broadway actress.  Hands down.  I grew up in and around musical theatre and I love everything about it.

4.  If you won the lotto, what charity would you donate to?
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.  St. Jude is my sorority's philanthropy.  You can't be exposed to it and not fall in love with the place.  Did you know that they don't require anyone who gets treated there to pay?  Nope!  NO ONE!  If you can pay for something, then you can pay.  However, they will not turn someone away.  Please go check out St. Jude.  It is truly an amazing place.

And while you're at it, check out the amazing things that Tri Delta is doing for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital!

I would want to travel.  I would want to go all over the world.  I love to travel.  Part of it on cruises and part of it on land and part of it taking flight.

6.  What is the last book you read and did you enjoy it?
Explosive Eighteen by Janet Evanovich.  If you've never read a Stephanie Plum novel, I highly recommend them.  One for the Money just came out in the theatres.  I did not see it, but I didn't hear good things about it.  HOWEVER, the books are HILARIOUS!

7.  What is the last movie you saw and did you enjoy it?
I can't even remember what the last movie was; however, B and I have been watching Damages on Netflix.  We really enjoy it.

8.  What is your #1 parenting principle?
This is an interesting question for me.  My little man is only 5 months old so we haven't really don't a lot of "parenting."  However, I would say that patience is our parenting principle right now.  With a 5 month old, you have to be patient.

9.  What is your #1 marriage principle?
Never lose a chance to tell your spouse you love them and always communicate.  OK, that was two. Whatever.  OH and always support one another. I don't know how I would have gotten through the last few years without B.  OK it's three.

10. What is your favorite weekday dinner to make?
Chili.  It has less to do with the cooking and more to do with the eating.  Love me some chili!

11. Why do you enjoy blogging?
I like having somewhere to just write what I am thinking and feeling and have support from all you wonderful ladies.

It's confession time

Link up with the adorable Leslie over at A Blonde Ambition and tell us your confessions.

1)  I just ate 2 grilled cheese sandwiches.  I just shoved them in my mouth all at once (not really, but the Legally Blonde reference was worth it).

2)  I am super excited to start work on Monday, but am really enjoying spending time with the little man today.  However, it is clear that being a stay at home mom is not for me.

3)  I have a stack of partially read books in the bathroom.

4)  An Allure magazine showed up in my mail box today.  I have no idea where it came from or how I ended up with a subscription, but I'm not complaining.

5)  I asked for a simple point and shoot camera for Christmas 2010.  I found out I was pregnant two days before that Christmas.  Now I wish I had a fancier camera, but feel awkward asking for another one.

6)  I risked waking my son so I could use the flash to take a photo of him asleep.  It's adorable and totally worth the risk of waking him.

7)  I love the way my guy cuts and colors my hair, but I hate the way he styles it.

8)  When LB wakes up in the middle of the night, I sometimes fall asleep and he ends up crying for a little while before it wakes me back up.  Sorry buddy!

9)  At other times when he wakes up, I find myself laying in bed saying "Maybe if I pretend I didn't hear him, he will just go back to sleep."  That rarely happens.

10)  I am excited about my new job for many reasons, one of which is I won't feel guilty about shopping anymore.

Back in Action

Well, that was faster than I expected.  Last Wednesday, I interviewed for a position at an oil and gas company in town.  Yesterday, I got a call and was offered the job.  I am really excited to start working again and it doesn't hurt that this position came with a nice bump in salary from what I was making at the firm and has a lot of room to advance.  WHEW!  I feel as though a weight has been lifted from my shoulders and I am eager to get back in the action of work.
I will miss things though.  I will miss being able to go feed LB at lunch (now I'm not sure if I will be able to do that or not, but I have a feeling that I won't be able to).  I will miss being able to spend the day with LB any time that I want.  However, it will just make everything else we do together that much more special (I keep telling myself that).  Anyway, I am now back in action and will be blogging away.
