I win!

Jamie picked me for a blog award and it kind of made my day a little bit :)
So, I am supposed to nominate 5 people and give 5 random facts.  So, I nominate the following people:
Jen
Nicole
Courtney
Stacy
Janna

Alright, here are my 5 random facts.

1) Jamie and I went to high school together.  We didn't really hang out or even spend any time together, but I've really enjoyed reading her blog :)
2) I have possibly the world's biggest mouth EVER!
Ironically, she and I never really got along

3) Having unread emails makes me anxious.

4) From the day I was born until after I got married, I went by my middle name. After I got married, I changed my name, taking my middle as my first, my maiden as my middle and dropping my first name.

5) I met my college bestie's friends at her wedding a couple of years ago and have become better friends with them than I  am with some people I considered close friends in the past.

Thanks again, Jamie!

Who's Your Doppleganger

A Mommas Desires and Pacifiers

Who do you look like?  It's what Raven wants to know.  And since Raven is a must read for me (and should be for you if she isn't already), I grabbed a glass of wine and sat down to find out who was my doppleganger.

When I was in 2nd grade, we moved to Springfield, MO and I went to school with a girl who looked so much like me it was weird.  Oddly enough, no matter how hard we tried, we couldn't be friends.  We just didn't get along.  That was around the same time that I got my first "Oh you look like a blonde Christina Ricci." Well, apparently, MyHeritage.com agreed.

Then I got curious and wondered who else they thought I looked like and I was surprised by what I got:

Beyonce?  Angelina?  Really?  I don't see it...  Shirley Temple?  Ehhh I think I get that.

Who do you look like?

I must confess

I'm linking up with Leslie over at A Blonde Ambition to confess this week.
~ I am a bitch. I'm not a mean bitch anymore. I used to be a mean girl, but now I'm just a sarcastic bitch and that is more fun than being a mean bitch.
~My life has been put on hold until we move in 3 weeks.
~ I want fair food.
~ I wish Tulsa had a cupcake place, but my thighs are glad it doesn't.
~ I listen to a podcast called For Crying Out Loud (I recommend it) and a couple of weeks ago it was pretty much like a free therapy session.
~ B wants to name our next son Danger.  Guess how excited I am about that.
~ After returning to work, I've started judging people on the following things: the length of the hem on their pants, their shoes and their highlights.

Well, I think that's about all I've got for today so go link up and tell me all of your dirty confessions!

I'm about to get political

Ok, folks.  I rarely get political.  I'm pretty middle of the road (with more right leaning than left), but I just CANNOT sit back and not say something about this.  A couple of days ago, a former Constitutional Law professor said the following: Ultimately, I'm confident that the Supreme Court will not take what would be an unprecedented, extraordinary step of overturning a law that was passed by a strong majority of a democratically elected Congress.

If that quote doesn't make you scratch your head you either (1) are not from this country or (2) did not so hot in middle school civics and should not audition for Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader?  One of the core tenants of the United States Constitution is the policy of Checks and Balances.  Meaning that each branch of the federal government checks the other branches.  Meaning?  Well that means that one of the Supreme Court's jobs is to do just what the President of the United States said it could not.

In one of the most famous Supreme Court cases (and a case that every first year law student studies on the first days of their Constitutional Law class), Marbury v. Madison, it was determined that it is the responsibility of the COURTS to determine what the law means.  Not the legislature. Not the executive.  THE COURTS!  Further, Marbury v. Madison overturned the Judicary Act of 1789.  Marbury v. Madison was decided in 1803.  Marbury v. Madison (5 U.S. 137): It is emphatically the province and duty of the Judicial Department to say what the law is. … If, then, the Courts are to regard the Constitution, and the Constitution is superior to any ordinary act of the Legislature, the Constitution, and not such ordinary act, must govern the case to which they both apply. (here)

There has been a lot of backtracking in the last couple of days.  He's been talking about how he was referring to SCOTUS not overturning laws on economic issues (umm they totally have before, and if they haven't then I want the weeks I spent studying the commerce clause back).  Then, he narrows the scope of his statement even more by saying that SCOTUS hasn't overturned a law on an economic issue like health care.  Umm, isn't that because THERE HASN'T BEEN ONE?

After that, he starts spouting about the Lochner Era of Due Process and Commerce Clause regulation.  One thing that I find funny, regardless of any other comments being made, is that it is finally getting down to the fact that, to the government, health care is an economic issue and not an issue of individual rights.  Therefore, for any politician to say that everyone has a RIGHT to affordable health care is such BS because it apparently is NOT an individual rights issue, but one of MONEY!

I posted something on my FB and now everyone is getting their panties in a twist about it.  For example, a lawyer friend of mine (don't forget, I'm a lawyer) is telling me about what he said and what "precedent" means and frankly is just chasing her tail and frustrating me.

I respect the office, but am frustrated by the man.  It is misleading and people will cling to this.  They will take it as truth and it just isn't!  Please, someone tell me how someone can say things like this and then we are supposed to take him seriously? Why do you say something that acts as nothing by to piss off the Supreme Court Justices?  Why do you misstate so many facts (umm the health care plan was passed by a margin of 7 votes, that is so NOT an overwhelming majority - even members of his own party voted against it).  I am just appalled by him saying this.

Alright, say what you want in the comments.  I have already defended my feelings to some of my liberal friends.  There is just little you can say when there was such a blatant misquote of the document you swore to defend and uphold.

And with that, I leave you with this:

Sheree will check you if the Supreme Court does not.

So What Wednesday

WHEW!  People, life is crazy!  Everyone's lives are crazy.  Anyway, what are you saying "So What" about?

I say So What If:

~ I am DYING to read Fifty Shades of Grey.  I've heard it's a saucy novel and, frankly, it's just what I need.  Mama needs to get her mind right.

~ I'm starving at 3 pm.  I'm trying to better since I don't have a lot of time to exercise these days.  However, I need some sort of snack by 3.  Please let me know any suggestions you may have.  So far, I've been working on almonds and some yogurt.

~ I am super nervous about our move.  Yes, I've been talking about packing and, it's true, we're moving at the end of April.  Just a couple miles away, but to a bigger, newer, nicer house that isn't tainted by whatever skanks B used to bring back here before he saw the light (ME!).  B bought our house before we met and I have never quite felt like it was my house.  I am pretty excited about the chance to really make it our house.

~ I bribed B to go to a wedding in St. Louis next month with Adam Carolla tickets.  We both like him, but he has been wanting to go to a live show for a while.  He's pretty excited.

~ I can't seem to stop being tired.  I guess a few weeks of good sleep don't make up for a few months of bad sleep.

Ok, that's all I have for tonight.  Go link up with Miss Shannon over at Life After I Do (or LAID for short) and tell us what you're saying "SO WHAT?!?!" about.

A New Thought

Have you seen the Thought Questions blog?  It reminds me a little of Post Secret, but it has questions.  I have been short on topics lately (hence the lack of writing) so here we go.
Forgive. One thing that I know in life is that when I am happy, I tend to bring happiness into my life.  There are a few people I have trouble forgiving for things, but I try every day. I feel so much peace in my life when I can stop caring and holding grudges. Everyone should know how to forgive.

Failure. I am constantly terrified after the fiasco of my last job. I am constantly terrified that I am going to fail as a mother. I am terrified that I am going to fail as a wife.  Failure is something that holds me back and I try to not let it run my life and just live one day at a time.

Acceptance. I don't think you can have healthy relationships without acceptance.  You can't get into a relationship with someone and hope to change them. If you don't like something about that person, it isn't going to change just so you have to decide if you can accept it, or if it will always bother if. If it will always bother you, then you can live in unhappiness or cut your losses and move on.  I've had to cut my losses in many relationships. I can't deal with high maintenance friends. I can't deal with someone who needs their hand to be held at all times.  That may make me selfish, and I'm okay with that. My friends must be selfish too then and we're fine with that.

To make time for my marriage. Between work, class, the baby and packing (what?!?!) I am exhausted.  B is exhausted. The only one who doesn't seem to be exhausted is LB - that is until 7:00 comes around. B and I love each other very much, but I just don't want to fall too far into a rut.  Life has gone through quite the adjustment in the last year and we are still trying to figure it out.  It will happen, but, for now, we make it.

6 (almost 7) Months of Squishy Baby Love

Baby Boy, Mama and Daddy love you so much.  You are our sweetest angel baby.  You are growing up so much everyday and we have so much fun playing with you.  Now that you are getting bigger, you love playing and rolling around and wrestling with Mama and Daddy.  We love you so much and can't believe how lucky we are to have such a perfect little baby boy.

BABY STATS
Sleep:  You go to sleep between 7:00 and 7:30 and getting up around 6:00 or 6:30.  Your sleep is so much better these days.  We almost always sleep through the night now.  Sometimes you wake once or twice, but you either soothe yourself back to sleep or we give you a paci and you are right back out.  Mama is so thankful for the extra sleep she's been getting.

Routine:  You are love daycare.  You have so much fun.  You get to school around 7:30 and forget about Mama.  You get so excited to see Miss Betsy and your friends (you also get excited for Miss Rena, but Miss Betsy is your favorite).  On Monday and Wednesday, Mama pick you up around 5:15. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, Daddy picks you up around 4:45.  On Fridays, Daddy sometimes gets you around noon and Mama sometimes gets you around 2:15.  On the weekends, we have lots of play time, go on walks and you take 2-3 naps.  Tuesdays and Thursdays are bath nights and you love them.  We took the divider out of your whale tub and you have so much fun splashing about now.

Feed: Oh my goodness, any concern we ever had about you and a bottle is now GONE GONE GONE!  You drink up to 25 ounces of milk a day at daycare and now eat solid foods 3 times a day.  When we get up in the morning, you nurse and then you eat breakfast at school around 8:00 (normally cereal and fruit).

Weight:  You weighed 6 lb 15 oz when you were born. At your 6 month appointment you weighted 22.5 pounds.  Your weight gain has slowed, and we are ok with that - you stay in clothes longer!

Length: When you were born, you were 19.5 inches. At your 6 month appointment, you were 28 inches long. Your doctor says she doesn't expect babies to be that big until they are a year old.

Diaper Size: We are in size 3s and our next shipment of diapers will be size 4.

Clothes Size:  You wear anything between 6-12 month clothes and some 12-18 month onesies.

Hair Color:  Your hair changes color depending on the light.  Sometimes it's very blonde, sometimes it's light brown and sometimes it looks a little red.  Your mullet is now starting to blend in with the rest of your hair.   You just have so much hair!  You also have  a cowlick in the front that gives you a natural part and a sweet little boy cut.

Eye Color:  Beautiful and Blue!  Mama couldn't be any happier about it :)

Funniest Moment:  You babble all the time and it is really funny.  You make us laugh all the time.

Favorite Toy:  You love your blocks and your stroller.  At school, you play with all of the toys and have so much fun with them.  You especially like balls and being rough housed.  You are all boy!  Most of all, you love the remotes!

Firsts: Regularly sleeping through the night.  Sleeping on your tummy.  First teeth. Sitting up on your own all the time.  Rolling all the time. Art project at school.

You try to crawl and you are such a wiggle worm when we try to change you.  You love to snuggle Mama, but crawl all over Daddy.  I still love putting you to bed, but you don't let me rock you as long anymore.  We love every moment with you and can't wait to see what else you have in store for us!
