32 Weeks

This is a little picture we like to call sleep was more important than clean hair/awkward smile because I'm tired.
How Far Along: 32 weeks and 3 days

Size of baby: He's in the 72st percentile of his growth and should be somewhere around 4.5 lbs and about 17 inches.  We'll see.

Total Weight Gain: As of my doctor's appointment yesterday, I was up 23lbs.

Maternity Clothes: Love em, and apparently I have developed a deep abiding affinity for black tank tops.

Gender: Still a boy - B Jr.

Movement: He regularly tries to escape via pushing his way out through the top of my stomach/does yoga all day/practices MMA or soccer/loves to move around especially when his daddy is talking :)

Sleep: I cannot get comfortable these days.  I will go to bed and then lay there for a long time until I decide to get up and watch tv for a little while.  It seems like I get to sleep around 11 or 11:30 these days.  While that doesn't seem very late, I need more sleep than that - especially since Hubs' alarm goes off at 5:30 and I never really get back to "sleep" after that.

What I miss:  Sleeping on my back, beer (it's just so good when it hits your lips), pizza (makes me so uncomfortable I can't even eat one bite), feeling like myself, having a sex drive (because it left about 7 months ago and has yet to return - my poor poor husband).

Cravings: I like food.  I think I have to accept that my feelings toward Mexican food are more than just "I always like it" and have turned into a full on craving because I wake up in the morning and have to convince myself to not get a breakfast burrito.

Aversions: Mashed Potatoes (if they aren't super flavored), Chicken Wings and mint toothpaste.

Symptoms: I start getting tired around 8:30pm, a bit of insomnia, some congestion, I think my belly gets bigger every single day (which was confirmed by our legal assistant on Tuesday when she told me that my belly, not me, got bigger over the weekend lol), a bit of nesting and my short fuse.
Best Moment of the Week: My office threw me a baby shower yesterday and bought us a jogging stroller and some other goodies, including a Texas Longhorns bear.

Why yes that is a Tums container behind the little bear on top of my messy desk.
What I'm Looking Forward To:  My baby shower with my dad's side of the family this weekend and just moving further along this road that end with my wonderful little guy being here :)

31 Weeks and Growing

I couldn't manage to get a decent picture today so I am going to give you all a couple mediocre photos and take note that I really need to do a better job at filling in my eyebrows since they have apparently bleached out a bit already this summer.
The bathroom at work seriously has the WORST lighting EVER

How Far Along: 31 weeks and 1 day

Size of baby: All the sites say he's about 16 inches, but he probably weighs more than my updates say since they already estimated him at 4 lbs last week.

Total Weight Gain: Probably about 21 or 22 at this point - depends on when I weigh myself and what I ate the day before (on heavy sodium days I retain water like it's my job for the next day or 2).

Maternity Clothes: Can't complain about stretchy clothes and they're pretty much all I wear - except for cardigans.

Gender: Still a boy - B Jr.

Movement: He's my little wiggler/soccer star/mixed martial artist.   Yesterday he decided it would be fun to punch and headbutt Mama in the cervix all day. Guess who did NOT think that was fun?  It is kind of cool knowing that I can now distinguish between how his hands feel when they punch me and how his feet feel when they kick me.  Last night Hubs got his first high-five from the little guy (aka his hands were on my stomach and little man punched my stomach).

Sleep: Sleep is sleep.  I just have to get it when I can and as much as I can.  I have accepted that I get up every couple hours to hit the restroom.  I suppose it's just training for the months after little man gets here. I also can't go back to sleep once Hubs' alarm goes off/he gets in the shower.  Now, I don't get out of bed, but I just lay there thinking about my day and, some mornings, feel my little man move around.

What I miss:  Sleeping on my back.  I'm still comfortable like that, but sometimes I do feel a little light headed (guess it's that whole circulation thing) so I try not to do it.  That and if I do and Hubs sees me, all I hear is "WIFE! Get off your back.  THE BABY!"  He sure loves his son already ;)

Cravings: I like food.  Sometimes I feel like Phoebe from Friends when she was pregnant because I've eaten/wanted to eat more red meat in the last 31 weeks than I have in probably the last 3 years (on average).

Aversions: Mashed Potatoes (if they aren't super flavored), Chicken Wings and mint toothpaste.

Symptoms: I start getting tired around 8:30pm, I think my belly gets bigger every single day, a bit of nesting and my short fuse.
Best Moment of the Week: Making a plan to get things done with the nursery, ordering new coffee and end tables for the living room (our anniversary gift for each other) and knowing that I have a nice long weekend ahead of me.

What I'm Looking Forward To:  Ordering my recliner this weekend and organizing what we currently have in the nursery and maybe cleaning out a few other areas of the house.

I think I am going to put together a Favorite and Least Favorite parts of being pregnant.  I have had an incredibly easy and blessed pregnancy, but that doesn't mean that there aren't things that I haven't been such a fan - although I acknowledge that it will all be worth it once my little man is here :)

Yet again, life experiences that Friends failed to prepare me for . . .

How real pregnancy can be.  I was on the elliptical, in a house that is probably 70-75 degrees, but feels like it's about 1000000 and I was watching Friends.  It's the episode where Rachel is a week past her due date.  There I was, pedaling away when I wanted to throw a weight at the TV because Rachel started complaining about it being 100 degrees outside and she's uncomfortable.  F-You Rachel Green!  It has been 100+ degrees in Tulsa for over two weeks right now and there is NO. END. IN. SIGHT. It probably won't cool down a bit until the little man gets here.  I have 8 weeks left and I am so hot and tired and know that I am just going to get hotter and more tired.  And so I sit here on the couch with my feet propped up on the floor by Hubs' old calculus book (this is progress from sitting on the floor in front of the air vent because I was so damn hot).  It works.

You have failed me Friends.

Baby Shower #2

Last weekend we had baby shower #2 with my college and law school friend.  Three of my law school friends hosted the shower in little B's honor.  It was nice to see friends I don't get to see often and to celebrate the impending arrival of B Jr.  The food was good, the company was good and I got lots of adorable things for our little guy.  Without further ado, I will let the pictures do the talking.
Our hostess, Lisa, rubbing my belly (she makes me feel ridiculously pale and chubby - yes I know that I'm pregnant and not just fat).

Another hostess, Lauren, who came up from Texas for the day :)

Lisa and Kara, the third hostess, finishing up the food (aren't my green oven doors AWESOME?  I really need to do something about them).

The spread

Measuring my belly :)

You can't see but the little bag I'm holding on the left side of the picture has sunglasses, socks and a baby sweatband in it.  <3

My wonderful friend, Jen, made this blanket for our little guy :)

Lisa, Lauren, Meredith and Kara - four of my lovely law school friends

Former TU cheerleaders

We all had a really nice time.  Two showers down. Two more to go (not including the one that work is throwing me which I'm pretty sure I'm not supposed to think is an actual shower).  Our little man is so loved already :)

30 Weeks

How Far Along: 30 weeks and 3 days

Size of baby: Well we had an ultrasound today since my belly was measuring small at the doctor yesterday and they think that the little guy is about 4 pounds.  All the sites say he's about 16 inches.  He's measuring about a week to a week and a half ahead of schedule on all measurements except his leg (they only measured one) - that's right on time lol.  Looks like he might have Mom's short legs.  It was funny that they thought I was measuring small and then we get in and my little man is measuring bigger than expected.

Total Weight Gain: Around 20.  I have 10 weeks to go so hopefully I won't double my weight gain in those weeks.

Maternity Clothes: LOVE LOVE LOVE.  I like when my belly is covered and I love stretchy waistbands lol.  However, I am eager to get back in normal clothes after little guy gets here.

Gender: Still a boy - we got definite confirmation today!

Movement: Today he was head down so hopefully he stays that way.  However, that means that he likes to kick near my ribs

Sleep: Sleep is sleep.  I just have to get it when I can and as much as I can.  I have accepted that I get up every couple hours to hit the restroom.  I suppose it's just training for the months after little man gets here.

What I miss:  Sleeping on my back and being able to sleep through the night, but that's about it.

Cravings: I just like food.

Aversions: Mashed Potatoes (if they aren't super flavored), Chicken Wings and mint toothpaste.

Symptoms: My energy level has been going down, but that's to be expected.  Also I have an extremely short fuse and once it goes off there is no way of getting it back.  Oh and once I get hot, that's it, I am not going to cool down for quite a while.
Best Moment of the Week: Getting the sweetest anniversary card from B (we're going out for our anniversary tomorrow so I'll blog about that when we've had our date) and getting to see our little guy today :)

What I'm Looking Forward To:  My shower tomorrow and celebrating my anniversary with Hubs :)

29 Weeks

How Far Along: 29 weeks and 5 days

Size of baby: Little Man is about 16 inches long and about 3 pounds.   I can't believe we have a little over 10 weeks left for this kiddo to gain 3-4 more pound and grow 3-4 more inches!

Total Weight Gain: I'll say probably around 18 lbs or so.  I have an appointment on Thursday so I'll know then.

Maternity Clothes: Maternity pants in everything except athletic shorts and yoga pants.  I can still wear a lot of my pre-pregnancy dresses so that's nice (gotta love wrap dresses and empire waistlines). Pretty much all maternity shirts except for casual tshirts and some stretchy tanks. I had to buy new bras a couple weeks ago, but nothing compares to sports bras these days.  They are fabulous!

Gender: Little baby boy, Bryan :)

Movement: He is still a little wiggler.   I think he had the hiccups this morning.  I'm pretty sure he was transverse this morning and it felt like he was pinballing around in my belly this morning.

Sleep: Sleep has gotten harder in the last few weeks.  I have to be propped up to breathe well, I sleep with a pillow between my legs, one under my feet (it helps keep the cramps at bay), and a king sized pillow under my belly (for support) and close to my chest.  I wake up about every 2 hours and have to go to the bathroom and I have to get some water while I'm awake or else I get awakened with HORRIBLE calf cramps that cause my left calf to stay sore for days.

What I miss:  Sleeping on my back. I also miss alcohol.  There are few things I enjoy more in life than a cold beer on a hot summer night - I am so a St. Louis girl.  Being at the wedding last night with everyone drinking around me made me want a drink too, but holding off a few more weeks is all worth it.  Love this little man :)

Cravings: Burgers, Mexican and Sweets all sound good all the time.

Aversions: Mashed Potatoes (if they aren't super flavored), Chicken Wings and mint toothpaste.

Symptoms: My energy level has been going down, but that's to be expected.  Some nausea has returned from time to time and I find that if I don't get a ridiculous amount of cold water in my all the time I feel like hell.
Best Moment of the Week: The other day I came home from work and B/Hubs (I get tired of correcting myself when I call him B so they is now interchangeable) came up to me and started talking to my belly and telling the baby how much he loves him and how excited he is for B Jr to get here.  It was the sweetest thing that has happened in a while.  I love that man

What I'm Looking Forward To:  My second shower next weekend!

Baby's First Party

Last Friday, Hubs and I had a full day of work/school then jumped in the car around 5:15 and headed to St. Louis for a whirlwind weekend!  We got to my parents' house around 11:45 and it took just about all I have in me to have some polite conversation with the parents before I ran downstairs, washed my face, brushed my teeth, set an alarm (had to be at my first shower at 10 the next morning) and immediately passed out.  The alarm went off promptly at 7:30 the next morning and I begrudgingly dragged myself out of bed and into the shower.  We had to leave my parents' house at 9:30 to make it to the shower.  So, I grab some fruit to tide me over until we get to the shower and get ready.  Hubs forgot his hair gel at home so I had to use some hairspray on him.  He was unsure about that, but it worked just fine.  My bestie, Erin, threw me a shower at this great place in Lafayette Square in St. Louis called Sqwires.  I HIGHLY recommend it for breakfast/brunch if you're ever in St. Louis (I'm sure lunch and dinner are also good, but we didn't sample those fares).  The quiche was TO. DIE. FOR.

Gift table - little Bryan is so loved already :)

The food was so good!!
One of the tables

Dad, Aunt Angela, Mom and Katie

Hubs with his hairsprayed hair.  The husbands/boyfriends/fiances were invited to the shower too.
We got a lot of photo books (and apparently 4in heels + 100 degree heat + 90% humidity = Suzanne's swollen legs.  Dislike).

I love this play mat.  It may or may not have been on Pregnant in Heels and that may or may not be why I registered for it.

Erin's (on the left) dad makes homemade gifts for everyone - usually something involving leather and wood.  He made B Jr. a leather bag and put lots of blocks into it.  This was the only gift that almost made me cry.  He also wrote quotes on the bottom of the bag.  It was incredibly sweet.  And WTF Hubs' legs look really long.

Erin and her husband, Dave, got B Jr. a baby Patagonia fleece jacket for this winter.  It is so precious!
Erin, me and Katie.

Elaina has a 5 month old.  I to look like her 5 months after this little guy gets here.

After the shower, Hubs ran home with my parents to do some homework and I headed out to run some errands.  Hubs and I were going to Elaina's house for dinner so I had to pick up some cupcakes for dessert.  Then I had to run to Massage Envy to get gift cards for my mom's birthday from me, Hubs and Dad.  Then I realized that we left my mom's bday card in Tulsa so I ran to the grocery store next to Massage Envy to grab a card and some Gerber Daisies for Mom.  While I was there I got some stamps too, then ran to Jack in the Box to grab some tacos for Hubs and me for a late lunch.  I got home around 2:30 and had to leave again around 3:15 to go meet Erin and Dave and hangout for a while before we headed out to Elaina's for dinner and they had to run to a wedding reception.

I wish that I had taken pictures of all of the wonderful food Elaina made.  She made a delicious lasagna w/ fresh sauce, a wonderful salad and some great bread.  Then we had cupcakes for dessert, I got to watch part of the Cardinals game and play with Elaina's son and then we headed to our high school for the roast of the couple who put on the musicals at my high school.  I was really involved in musical theatre in high school.  The shows have been put on for the last 20 years by a couple and in the last 5 or 6 years their kids have started working too (they are in their 30s).  Susan was such an impact in my life and Jac was my vocal teacher for years.  I didn't get any good pics from the event, but I did get a pic of me and my name tags.  Yes, I said "tags", as in plural. We had name tags for the event so I wrote ones for me and Hubs.  Then I saw Hubs writing on and I said "Hey, I already have one for you."  Then he slapped me on the belly (not hard) I then had a name tag on my belly that said "B Jr." on it.  Well everyone thought it said "BJ" b/c Hubs has horrible handwriting.  Frustrating!  My son will NOT be called BJ.  End. Of. Story.

Me, my puffy face and two name tags.  I was accused of not being proud of my son when I took his tag off.
The roast ended around 11:30 and Hubs and I headed back to my parents' house (30 minutes away) and, once again, immediately crashed.  We woke up the next morning around 8 and hit the road around 10.  It was a long weekend but so much fun.  About 20 minutes after we got to Tulsa, my brother showed up with all of his stuff and his dog ready to start his internship the next day (Monday) and we settled into the house.  I'll have to do a new pregnancy update on Thursday.  I am 28 weeks today and go to the doctor tomorrow so we'll get a check up on my stats.  I hope everyone had a great weekend :)
